History

This 48'Staysail Schooner, designed by Edson Schock, was built by Boeing Aircraft Co in Vancouver for John V Farrow and Maureen O'Sullivan in 1934.
John V Farrow was a movie director and Maureen O'Sullivan was the original Jane in the 1930's Tarzan movies ; they are Mia Farrow 's parents.
She was originally called "Mavourneen" which come from old irish "Mo Mhuirnin " which means "My Darling".
By 1936 she was sold to S.Austin Jones of LA and renamed "Landfall II ",she then was bought by a retired US Navy Surgeon William F. Holcomb in 1941 who kept her until his death in 1976 .
Skipper Holcomb sailed her extensively around the world.
In 1953 a young Australian lad,Dach Hall, joined them in one of their circumnavigations , and 40 years later wrote a book about this adventure:"To Think We're Doing This For Fun ".

After Skipper Holcomb's death, she changed hands a few times until I bought her in June 2004 in San Francisco.
This schooner is a pretty well known sight in SF Bay as she has participated in the Master Mariners Race which she won in the 1970's !
Her last owner,Mary Sale, found her in a very sorry state and started restoring her in 2000,then participated in the Master Mariners Races in 2001 and 2002.
See article in Latitude 38 of September 2002.
Also an article was published in "The Rudder" in march 1936 and her original plans and blueprint are on file at Mystic Seaport Museum .
